Small Group Questions

Pendulum Swings:
As you begin your Small Group this week Choose your top 3…
1. baseball players. (Hey … pitchers & catchers reported for Spring Training this week!)
2. favorite Winter Olympic sports.  (Yes, curling is a sport even if the Norway team is wearing argyle pants.)
3. ways that the DC Family is making an impact in the community.
4. traits of Jesus.

1. LEARN TOGETHER: Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your strength.
These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

2. READ: John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you.”
What is so “new” about it?  How realistic is it for us to “love one another as He has loved us”  as Jesus commands we “must” do? Is He saying “try” to do this or to “do” it?

3. As specifically as possible, describe what changes you would have to make to begin really loving others as He has loved you.

4. READ:  Hebrews 10:24-25
Why would God want us to continue to meet together? (vs. 25)
Meeting with the body: Share times in your life when you really did not want to keep meeting with the body of Christ.  What caused you to feel this way? Discuss the reasons you desire to meet with the body.  What memorable times have you experienced meeting with the body? (Please note that these times are not restricted to the building.) Discuss ways in which our Sunday worship assemblies – and personal lives of worship – could be more powerful and impacting, i.e., becoming “more what God has in mind”, as we strive to truly love one another.
